Chalkboard is the filmmaker's response to watching two hours of sound theory in class. Chalkboard recorded the sounds she can make. Alice Lo used the chalkboard, a tool associated with learning and reception. She inverted its history, using it as a weapon, creating a powerful metaphor to voice the space between the hearing and the non-hearing worlds.

First Crush is an example of miscommunication. In this piece, the filmmaker interviewed strangers with a video camera. She asked each individual about his or her first crush. Throughout the editing process, what was a sweet, giggly story about someone's first crush turned into a private hell of her as she agonizingly tried to lip-read what was being said word for word.

This film chronicles the evolution of ASL poetry from the beginnings of deaf poets experimenting with translation of written English poems into ASL renditions by Malz, Panara, and Bragg, to the realization that original poetry could be created in ASL. After Stokoe's research validated ASL as a bona fide language, pride in ASL led to works by Ella Mae Lentz, Patrick Graybill, Clayton Valli, Debbie Rennie, and Peter Cook. Rochester, NY, and NTID played a crucial role in the mid 80's in local deaf and hearing poets fusing into a unified poetry community. Live performances that have never been seen in public are included.

This documentary highlights the history of deaf school and different attitudes toward deaf students and their abilities to learn. It starts in Spain in the 16th century and ends with the infamous Milan Conference of 1880. The film presents historical research on the two competing methods of deaf education: Oralism vs. Sign Language.

Thanks to The Expedition School's unique philosophy of using nature as a classroom, thirteen students from the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) experienced a first – a road trip to the Texas coast to catch some waves that ultimately transformed their lives.

The village's tranquility is interrupted by Salim's decision to change his deaf son's fate and make him a hearing person using the cochlear implant operation.
